Sylvania Looks To Put Netbook.

Well folks, we’ve got another exciting round of dirt cheap tech to talk about, and it’ll be coming soon to one of the strangest places possible: the CVS drugstore chain. We’re talking about Sylvania’s upcoming netbook, and their upcoming LookBook ereader.

Sylvania netbooks.
The netbook screams low-end, being a Windows CE machine that has a seven-inch screen and can allegedly stream YouTube, and I’m sure that’s an utter possibility if you don’t mind video that regularly freezes harder (and more often!) than winter soil in Michigan. Interestingly, Amazon’s selling these right now at $104.16, so it’ll be a bit of a discount over at CVS.
The LookBook ereader, meanwhile, is actually higher priced than the Kindle but offers wireless, a color display, 512 meg of storage and access to the Kobo book store. It even comes with a whopping 150 books preloaded.
Now, this personally has me intrigued. The netbook, not so much–I’ve seen better for not much more money. But the ereader, now…how many folks are going to spot one of those December 24th and wonder about handing over an entire library on Christmas morn? Still, being pricier than the Kindle may not be a good strategy. We’ll have to see how this turns out once Christmas shopping season gets started in earnest, and judging from the stores last year, that’ll be in about two weeks.
